Small bathroom storage — check out 7 ways to organise it

About to organize a bathroom with limited square footage? Wondering how to plan the space so there’s room for all the essential fixtures? There are a few simple tricks that will help you arrange them. We present them below—be sure to check them out!

Got a small bathroom to organise? Wondering how to plan the space so there’s room for all the essentials? There are a few simple tricks that will help you lay everything out. We present them below — be sure to check them out!

1. Go for a long bathroom countertop

Organising a small bathroom isn’t the easiest task, especially when it comes to storage. A long bathroom countertop can make things much simpler, with space underneath for bathroom furniture in the form of cabinets. This setup will accommodate a basin and at the same time let you use the space below for your toiletries. So if you’re wondering how to store cosmetics in a small bathroom, this is a solution worth considering.

2. Towel storage: a bathroom with roomy cabinets

The countertop isn’t just great for organising toiletries. It also helps you plan a spot for the washing machine, which you can easily tuck underneath. There’ll be room there too for drawer units, and these are the perfect place to store towels. That way they’ll be within easy reach whenever you need them most.

3. Cabinets in a small bathroom above the toilet

One way to make use of the free space above the toilet is to fit a cabinet sized to suit the area. This way you’ll use otherwise wasted space and gain somewhere to hide, for example, cleaning products, spare toilet paper or soap. Just make sure it doesn’t interfere with comfortable use of the toilet or risk you bumping into it.

4. Shelves: a way to organise awkward spaces

Is organising your bathroom tricky because the space has unusual dimensions? Have you a bit of free space, but a full-size cabinet won’t fit there? Consider installing shelves!

Shelves come in a huge range of sizes and shapes, which means you can slot them into practically any space and gain extra storage. You can easily fit them, for example, near the mirror, above a concealed WC frame or over a freestanding washing machine — anywhere you’ve even a little spare space.

5. Shower shelves — a way to keep the shower area tidy

A small bathroom makes storage tricky, especially in the shower area. How do you organise it so you can shower comfortably without having to bring your toiletries in and out each time? Corner shelves are a great solution and are easy to install in the shower.

Many of these come with suction cups, so fitting them doesn’t require drilling into the wall. They can be single- or multi-tier, so you can pick the model that suits your needs. What’s more, this type of shelf often has a construction of interlaced steel wire, which lets water drain away freely, so you don’t need to worry about wiping them down after every shower.

6. Bamboo bath caddies: convenience and practicality in one

Gone for a bath rather than a shower despite the small floor area? Are its rims too narrow to hold your soap or shampoo? A bamboo bath caddy will sort it out. This handy piece lets you bathe in comfort without having to reach outside the tub for your toiletries. It’s also ideal for a relaxing soak. You can easily set a candle, a glass of wine and your favourite book on it — or a tablet with a series playing. A perfect 2‑in‑1!

7. Mirror and storage in one: a mirrored cabinet over the basin

Even though it takes up a fair bit of space, it’s hard to do without a mirror in the bathroom. You can solve that by opting for a mirrored cabinet. This will let you do flawless make‑up while also giving you a place to store your make‑up products. And best of all: it will be the perfect finishing touch to the whole scheme.
