Many people wonder how to choose the optimal shower enclosure for their bathroom. Some prefer to install the shower enclosure with a tray themselves. If you’re in that group but don’t know how to approach a DIY installation, you’re in the right place! In this guide, we explain how to install a shower enclosure in a few simple steps that require care and precision. Check how to carry out each stage of the installation!

1. Levelling and installing the shower enclosure with a tray

When starting the installation of the shower enclosure, it’s crucial to correctly position and level the shower tray using the built-in support frame. Precise levelling will ensure proper water drainage and the stability of the entire structure. Once you’ve achieved the correct position, secure the tray in place.

Attach the tray to the floor using screws and wall plugs to provide a strong, durable connection. Then check the stability of the tray, making sure it doesn’t move under pressure. This will ensure the shower enclosure will be used for the long term — without unpleasant surprises or faults.

2. Securing the tray to the wall, connecting the waste

After fixing the tray, secure it additionally to the wall using mounting brackets. These brackets should be firmly attached to the wall to guarantee the stability of the entire structure. Fixing the tray to the wall will prevent it from shifting during use.

The next step is to connect the waste pipe to the tray. Make sure all connections are watertight to prevent leaks. Careful execution of this task is key to the proper functioning of the waste system.

3. Fitting the screen, installing glass panels and seals

Proceed to assemble the shower screen, starting with the frame. Slide the joiners into the top and bottom tracks, then secure them with screws. Remember to leave a little play to allow easy adjustment of the remaining parts of the screen.

Next, place the glass panels in the frame, first applying sanitary silicone to the bottom tracks for additional sealing. Use special clips to lock the panels in place. Make sure the seals between the glass and the profile are correctly positioned to improve the enclosure’s watertightness.

4. Mounting the screen on the tray with silicone

When the frame of the screen is ready, place it on the tray. Ensure the screen sits evenly against the tray and walls, and that its vertical profiles are plumb. Mark with a pencil where the screen meets the walls.

After marking the lines, fix the mounting profiles to the wall by drilling holes and inserting wall plugs. Apply sanitary silicone to the surfaces of the profiles to further seal the joint with the wall. Place the entire screen on the tray, sliding the vertical profiles onto the mounting profiles, then secure them with screws.

5. Installing and adjusting the shower enclosure doors

Begin installing the shower doors by attaching the rollers. These rollers allow the doors to slide smoothly along the tracks. Start with the top rollers, which allow height adjustment of the doors, and then fit the bottom rollers. Remember to cover the roller screws with caps for a neat appearance and safe use.

Next, hang the doors on the enclosure tracks, first hooking the top rollers and then the bottom ones. Make sure the doors are correctly installed and have no play. Then adjust the rollers so the doors slide smoothly and evenly without catching.

To finish the installation, fit the seals on the door edges to improve the enclosure’s watertightness. Attach the handles for opening the doors to make everyday use easier. Seal the outer edges of the enclosure with sanitary silicone to prevent water leaks.

Installing a shower enclosure with a tray requires accuracy and patience. If you encounter difficulties during installation, don’t hesitate to seek help from a professional. A professional will ensure that all components of the enclosure are correctly installed and functional. Remember that using a specialist can ultimately save time and give you confidence that your shower enclosure will be safe and durable in use.
