Bidetta is an increasingly popular solution that enhances a bathroom’s functionality. It makes everyday intimate hygiene easier and helps save water. The market now offers bidet taps that allow precise adjustment of water temperature and flow rate. In this article, we’ll discuss installation and how to choose the ideal bidet spray that will work well in your bathroom.
A bidetta, also known as a bidet spray, is a sanitary fitting used to supply water to bidets. Modern designs of this type of device are usually equipped with a handle or knob that lets you regulate the water flow and temperature, and some models also feature functions such as a massaging nozzle or a shower handset. We can divide bidet sprays into taps mounted directly in the bidet body — resembling a classic basin tap — and standalone ones with a nozzle or handset on a long hose.
Bidet tap is a key element of the installation and should be well matched to the size and shape of your bidet to ensure comfortable and safe use. A hose that’s too short or a spout that’s too long can lead to functionality issues, e.g. water spilling over the rim of the bowl, splashing, or the handset slipping from your hand. This is especially important if the bidet system is being installed with people with disabilities in mind.
Before starting installation, make sure you have all the necessary tools and components. To that end, read the instructions supplied with the fitting. Once you’re sure you have everything to hand, remove the old valve and screw the new bidetta in its place. If the tap is mounted on a ceramic surface, use special gaskets and silicone to ensure a durable fixing and prevent leaks. Check the water pressure and adjust it as needed using the regulator on the tap. After finishing the installation, check that the fitting works correctly by using the bidet.
Do you want to install a tap for the first time, or would you prefer to replace the entire fitting, including the part housed in the wall? In that case, the initial step will be to install the concealed element. Of course, you need to run the cold and hot water pipes to the place where the tap will be located beforehand.
For installation, you will need to cut an opening in the wall deep enough to hide the internal part of the tap. The next stage is to check the pipes for leaks. If everything is working well, you can plaster over the chases and any defects. If necessary, you can also carry out additional finishing works. The final task is to install the surface-mounted part of the tap, including the handset or nozzle. Remember to use a spirit level while working.
The height at which a bidetta is installed depends largely on the length of the hose, the height of the household members, and the bathroom’s ergonomics. It’s recommended to place the tap 40 to 80 cm above the floor. However, pay attention to individual preferences and needs to ensure the whole family can use the bidet comfortably.
If you’re wondering on which side to place the fitting with the nozzle or handset, we’d suggest the wall between the toilet cistern and the bidet itself. To use the cleansing handle comfortably, the bidetta should be installed close to the WC and the bidet ceramics. A good solution is to position it directly above the waste outlet, as long as the primary bidet tap with spout does not interfere. The installation process can be easy and pleasant if it’s carefully thought through and carried out in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. Remember that a correctly installed bidet tap can significantly simplify your daily routine.
