A marble bathroom – how to fit it out so it delights and is fully functional?

A marble bathroom is not just a contemporary trend. Marble as a material has been known to humankind for centuries. It was used to create extraordinary interiors, bathrooms included. It is exceptionally beautiful and, in itself, needs no embellishment. Its raw aesthetic is hard to compare with any other, and the price of this material is far from the lowest. However, using marble in the bathroom allows you to achieve a truly remarkable character for this interior!

Bathroom and marble = a wealth of design possibilities!

Natural marble is an excellent finishing material for many interiors, bathrooms of course included. It is timeless, never goes out of fashion, and that’s no exaggeration—powerful folk centuries ago used marble to finish their grand homes, the terraces in front of their estates, and indeed their bathhouses. Marble washbasin, marble floors and walls, or even baths were not uncommon in such places. Solutions from antiquity can be implemented today too, with a suitably healthy budget!

This extremely elegant material has a character all of its own. It’s hard to mistake it for anything else, but originality is only one of its advantages. In a bathroom it offers very broad design possibilities and works brilliantly in interiors arranged in styles such as:

Designing marble bathrooms is usually handled by specialists, although there is no shortage of enthusiasts who know the art of using marble in bathrooms. Both designers and aficionados know that the idea for the bathroom matters most—above all, choosing the style that will dominate the space.

Marble—without a hint of exaggeration—looks stunning in many styles. From minimalism, through the natural style, to full-on glamour. It mixes beautifully with wooden elements, so a countertop marble washbasin with a wooden base will look just as splendid in the bathroom as its fully marble counterpart. Stainless-steel fittings work perfectly in marble bathrooms, harmonising with the natural beauty of the material.

Marble can be laid on the bathroom floors and walls, form the bath surround, serve as the base of the shower enclosure, and it also works just as well as a stylish accent. A section of the bathroom clad in marble—for example the elements by the washbasin, just above it—plus a mirror in a gold or black frame: this is a way to weave marble elements into a bathroom where most features are, for instance, wooden. A countertop washbasin and marble are always a great pairing!

Of course, you shouldn’t forget about proper lighting, because marble literally radiates in bright and spacious bathrooms! LED lights are excellent for highlighting the character of marble elements in the bathroom. Cleverly woven into the decor, they give it an exceptionally luminous aesthetic. Interestingly, dark marbles also like plenty of light, so it’s worth experimenting with it, and brightening darker rooms with additional lamps or chandeliers (especially in the glamour style!).

It’s also worth taking care of the right accessories: gold finishes on furniture and bathroom fittings, polished steel, or shimmering containers for soap and other cosmetics, and a bathroom with marble will become truly captivating and fully functional!
