There are more and more ways to install toilet pans. No wonder — changing trends and ever-new toilet models call for new solutions. One of the most popular in recent years is the concealed frame. What exactly does this term mean? And, more importantly: which concealed WC frame set is best? Have a look below to find the answers!

Concealed frame: what is it?

Do you want your bathroom with a toilet to be a practical space where fixtures aren’t on show unnecessarily? In that case, a concealed frame is exactly what you’re after! A metal frame with an integrated water cistern, waste outlet and flush mechanism — that’s the simplest way to describe it.

A concealed frame lets you hide the plumbing inside the wall, so neither the cistern nor the supply and waste pipes are exposed. This makes the bathroom with a toilet more aesthetically pleasing, and you have fewer elements to clean regularly.

Concealed frame: which one to choose?

Concealed set: which one should you choose to keep it functional and suited to the space you’re fitting out? That’s the question anyone planning to install one in their toilet has to ask. If you’ve decided to buy a frame, think carefully about a few aspects that will help you pick the best model. Which aspects are they?

Type of concealed frame and how it’s installed

Most often, two main types of concealed frames are distinguished by installation method. These are:

  • frames for heavy (wet) construction;
  • frames for light (dry) construction.

The first type, frames for heavy (wet) construction, require a bit more work. The colloquial name “wet construction” refers to the need to mount such frames in masonry walls and then build them in afterwards. However, they are usually cheaper than frames for light construction.

Frames for light (dry) construction are far more popular because they’re simpler to install. They’re also called dry-construction frames, as they are suitable for mounting in plasterboard stud walls, and you can also use plasterboard to box them in. What’s more, these models can also be used in masonry walls.

Concealed frame for a toilet pan or a bidet?

When choosing the right concealed frame, pay attention to its purpose. Contrary to what you might think, a Concealed WC frame isn’t the only option you can buy. Frames for bidets and even for basins are also available. Individual models can differ in dimensions, so this is an important point to keep in mind.

Universality of a given concealed frame

Does every pan fit every frame? Not always. Many manufacturers create complete sets that only make sense in the original combination. However, that’s not a rule. You’ll also easily find universal concealed frames — for example, in our online shop.

What does a frame’s universality mean? It means it uses mounting hole spacing of a universal width, compatible with the most popular supply and waste connections for toilet pans. This solution is very convenient — just make sure you can rely on it in your case.

Completeness of the frame set and what it offers

Before you decide on a specific set, check what’s included. A good choice is a set with a stainless-steel frame that already comes with a full set of pipes, the fixings for installing the frame and hanging the toilet pan. It’s worth choosing a set that also includes a dual-flush button.

Also remember the load capacity of the model. Many solutions on the market guarantee a load capacity of up to 400 kg, so you can be confident it won’t fail quickly. Also check the warranty period offered by the manufacturer. Typically, it’s two years.

Take all of the above aspects into account and it’ll be easier to make the right purchase decision. Good luck!
