Which bathroom tap to choose?

Choosing the right bathroom faucet is no easy task. It’s important that the faucet is functional, attractive, and matches the bathroom’s decor. Of course, the materials the bathroom faucets are made from and the length of the manufacturer’s warranty also matter. Still, is there any point in buying a faucet that’s solid yet doesn’t suit the bathroom’s interior? Probably not. That’s why you should take all these factors into account, so the faucet you choose is pleasing to the eye and serves you well for many years.

Choosing the right bathroom tap isn’t an easy task. It’s important that the tap is functional, looks good, and matches the bathroom scheme. The materials bathroom taps are made from and the length of the manufacturer’s warranty are, of course, also significant. But is there any point buying a tap that’s solid yet doesn’t suit the look of your bathroom? Hardly. So it’s worth taking all these factors into account to pick a tap that’s pleasing to the eye and will serve for many years.

Bathroom taps can also be divided by their application. Among others, we have: basin taps, shower taps and bath taps. These also differ from one another, for example in how they’re installed. Below, we’ll describe a few types of taps and suggest which schemes they’ll suit.

Basin taps

The basin tap is usually the most frequently used tap in the home, especially in a four‑person household. In such a case, when buying, you should make sure the tap helps save water. Nearly all single‑lever taps now offer this. However, most of those models may not suit a bathroom arranged in a retro style. In that case, a two‑handle tap works best, for example wall‑mounted or a freestanding model in a gold finish. In modern bathrooms, freestanding chrome taps with, for example, a wide spout are also installed. Such taps pair only with countertop basins where no tap hole has been provided.

Shower taps

Choosing the right shower tap isn’t the easiest either. Concealed mixers are becoming increasingly fashionable. They take up less space in the shower enclosure than exposed models. Such a shower set can be installed both in a modern‑style bathroom and in a retro one. There are also surface‑mounted (exposed) shower taps, which give the bathroom a less contemporary look. In both cases, consider whether to go for just an overhead rain shower or one with an additional handset. The latter is more practical. You can also fit a shower panel in the enclosure, which can work brilliantly with both modern and traditionally styled bathroom interiors.

Bath taps

Bath taps are primarily divided into freestanding and wall‑mounted. If your bathroom is set up for a freestanding bath, choosing a freestanding tap is the smartest option. These are most often used in modern bathroom interiors. Wall‑mounted taps suit any bath, both modern and retro‑style. When buying a wall‑mounted tap, pay attention to the length of the spout. Choose one that’s too short and, at best, you’ll end up having to replace it.
