It proves most useful in winter, yet thanks to its functionality it doesn’t take a back seat during the rest of the year either. It’s wonderfully soft to the touch, an essential cover-up after a bath, and—most importantly—it keeps you perfectly warm on winter days. So, where should you buy a bathrobe and which material should you choose? We’ve got the answers!

A dressing gown is an indispensable part of both men’s and women’s wardrobes. It proves most useful in winter, yet thanks to its functionality – it doesn’t get sidelined even during the other seasons. It’s very pleasant to the touch, serves as an essential cover-up after a bath, and most importantly, it keeps the body wonderfully warm on winter days. So, where to buy a dressing gown and which material to choose? – we’ve got the answers!

How to choose a dressing gown – key information

A dressing gown should be soft to the touch, warm and comfortable – so it’s worth paying attention to the fabric. To choose the right material (e.g. cotton, polyester blend, terry towelling, velour), consider the intended use of the dressing gown. If it’s to serve as a cover directly after bathing in the warmer months, we recommend a fabric with a polyester component. In winter, however, the most sensible choice is 100% cotton because:

  • it’s soft and very warm,

  • it offers a high level of durability,

  • it absorbs moisture well.

Another important criterion when buying a dressing gown is its style (cut). Choosing the right cut will allow for freer movement while carrying out everyday tasks. It’s also worth tailoring the cover-up to your needs to make it as functional as possible. For example – the women’s dressing gown in the REA range comes in several variants: long, short, with a hood, with pockets or with a zip.

How to fold a dressing gown – storage and care

Given the variety of materials from which dressing gowns are made, special attention should be paid to how they’re washed and cared for (first and foremost, read the information from the manufacturer on the product label).

After reading the instructions on the label, wash the dressing gown. You can use gentle care products that aren’t caustic. Once the wash is finished, dry it and then fold it, following the tips below.

How to fold a dressing gown – 9 simple steps

  1. remove the belt from the dressing gown;

  2. lay the dressing gown on a flat surface (e.g. on a table) with the back facing up;

  3. fold the left shoulder in 10 cm from the visible shoulder seam;

  4. fold the right shoulder in 10 cm from the visible shoulder seam;

  5. smooth the dressing gown out;

  6. fold the bottom section up to ¼ of the length;

  7. smooth the dressing gown out;

  8. fold the final section and smooth it out;

  9. put the belt back on that you removed at the very beginning.

Depending on the fabric, a dressing gown can also be rolled. This is a very convenient solution (especially for transport), but to do so you should complete the 9 steps above, lay the sleeves towards the centre or along the sides, and start rolling (from bottom to top) into a very tight roll.
